Sphere recorded four amazing and contrasting pieces that speak to our current times:
-
Shostakovich's largely autobiographical String Symphony, a work of extreme contrast, at times jarring, at times cathartic.
-
The nostalgic, yet rowdy, Strum, by wonderful American composer Jessie Montgomery.
-
Dave Matthews's commentary on the pace of the world we live in, in his classic song, “Ants Marching,” a Sphere premiere arranged by Dave Short.
-
Last, the amazingly profound Bach Chaconne, arranged by Executive Director/Violist/Arranger, Alex Vittal. This piece encompasses all the feelings that we have experienced during this pandemic... and then some!
With beautiful videography by Vadim Elkind and audio by Kevin Harbison, this will be the next best thing to seeing Sphere live!
